Helping People in Need

What is Project Smile?

Founded in 2003, Project Smile is a federally tax exempt non-profit organization dedicated to helping people in need through 2 signature programs: Suits & Smiles and Smiles for Children. Smiles for Children donates stuffed animals, coloring books/crayons and children's reading books for social workers, police officers, fire fighters and paramedics to give to children. Project Smile has collected over 44,000 stuffed animals and donated to 200 police and fire departments across the country.  Suits & Smiles provides job interview & work attire for men in need. Based in Jamaica Plain, Suits & Smiles serves men in the greater Boston, Framingham and Worcester areas. Our goal is to empower low income men to attain the jobs they need to improve their lives and become financially independent.

How you can help

Thousands of children face traumatic events annually. Approximately 7,000 enter foster care each year in Massachusetts and an additional 3,000 children reside in a Massachusetts homeless shelter. A limited number of police officers and fire fighters have stuffed animals on hand to give to a distressed child. We need your help so that we can provide stuffed animals, books and coloring books/crayons for police officers, fire fighters, the Dept. of Children & Families and shelters to give to children who are victims of traumatic events.

We also need your help to support our efforts to help low income men who are seeking employment. Many of the men who come to Suits & Smiles are working hard to overcome tremendous personal obstacles. Many are recovering from addiction. Finding employment is an important step on their journey to recovery. By providing these men with professional clothing & shoes for their job interview, we're helping them make a positive first impression and giving them much needed confidence. We're happy to report that almost all of the men who have visited our program have found employment.

In order to continue our mission, Project Smile relies on the generous support of individuals, families, schools, businesses and other organizations. Your support is greatly needed and deeply appreciated. There are a number of ways you can help Project Smile.

Many thanks to our generous donors!
